Modelling can be used to gain an understanding of the chloride diffusion characteristics of concrete, both in new and existing structures. With a knowledge of chloride ion content from site, and known concrete physical properties, chloride ion diffusion rates can be modelled offering an indication of estimated time to corrosion initiation.
