Protecting Reinforced Concrete Structures against Corrosion.

It is now well appreciated that, whilst the majority of reinforced concrete structures perform very well, some suffer deterioration due to attack by chloride ions or carbon dioxide. Commonly concrete repairs are undertaken to distressed structures. It is now known that in chloride contaminated structures, these repairs have limited lifetime due to the 'incipient anode' effect which in effect moves corrosion activity to steel outside the repair patch resulting in further concrete spalling.

Duoguard 500 is a single anode unit which is installed into pre-drilled holes in reinforced concrete structures to protect them from further corrosion induced deterioration.
